Chad Nichols Claims BCRA Midget Triumph at Madera'a Vukovich Classic

Colma's Chad Nichols claimed the Bay Cities Racing Association Midget feature on Saturday, May 8 at the 1/3-mile Madera Speedway aboard his own #17 "Orange Rocket" Beast/Esslinger.

Nichols soared to the 30-lap feature win after overtaking outside polesitter and early race leader, "Mr. Excitement" David Prickett of Fresno on Lap 10.

Prickett, the reigning BCRA Midget champion claimed second aboard the Neverlift Motorsports #15 Stealth/Van Dyne. 2008 BCRA Midget champion "Young Lion" Nick Foster, Jr. of San Jose claimed third aboard Jim Fowler's Windows Unlimited #1 "Blue Bayoo" Beast/Esslinger (combo car).

Visalia's Scott Nail claimed third aboard his #16 Stealth/Riolo Chevy about two seconds ahead of Chico's Dillon Silverman aboard Rick Young's RAM Racing #12 Spike/RRE Chevy EcoTec.

The win was Nichols' second BCRA pavement triumph in as many starts - Nichols also claimed the only other BCRA pavement race at Shasta Raceway Park on April 3. Nichols also picked up a USAC-WS Midget win last week at Stockton 99 Speedway.

Nichols claimed the 4-lap Trophy Dash from fourth over Prickett, Foster and Nail. Nichols moved from fourth-to-first on the opening lap.

Foster claimed the 8-lap Heat over Nichols, Prickett, Nail and Silverman.

Nichols set fast time with a 14.096 lap.
