Petaluma Speedway was Superb!

The BCRA Midgets and Midget Lites regret that, due to technical difficulties, the pre-race release for the August 14th "Fender Free Open Wheel Madness" event at Petaluma Speedway did not appear on the BCRA website.

The BCRA Board of Directors, Officials, Midget car owners and drivers and Midget Lite car owners and drivers wish to thank the Petaluma Speedway promoter and his entire crew for a superbly orchestrated racing event on a track surface that was second to none. All night long the black clay racing surface stayed moist and tacky which allowed the Midgets and Midget Lites to race fast and close to the delight of the crowd.

Scott Pierovich roars from his 8th starting position to win the BCRA Midget Main Event at Petaluma Speedway!

Vintage Views: April 2010

BCRA Vintage Views: Marysville 4/17/2010
By June Wheeler-Ferreira

Saturday, April 17th the vintage guys set sail to Marysville to run an exhibition on the ¼ mile dirt track, just out of town. The weather was perfect and the crowd appreciated the vintage cars.

Promoters, Paul and Kathy Hawes, first had the vintage cars, 9 in all, moved to an area behind the grand stands, so that fans could look at the cars as they entered the grand stand and boy, did they, and they loved them. Then around 6:30 p.m. we brought the cars back to our pits to get ready and go out for some hot laps.

At our safety meeting before the event our director, Paul, said, “If you have a problem and can’t make it off of the racetrack, pull to the infield.” Everybody thought that was funny, because he had not looked at the racetrack, didn’t know the whole infield was under water and it was a pond. So he said, “Just go to plan B.” It was a fun night for us with a heat and a main. The regular Midgets were there in full force and put on a great show. They also ran the regular Saturday night cars - a great place to spend Saturday night at the races.
Things broke up around 11 p.m., then it was time for the big ride back to the Bay Area.

The BCRA vintage cars, drivers and owners at the event:
Ron Dunn #1
Frank & Jayne Fuentes #2
Jim De Jong #4
Harold Allen #04
John Kunstal #20
Don Strauch #26
Norm & Carol Gray #30
Paul Farajian #36
Paul & June Ferreira #36

Thank you, Paul & Kathy Hawes for having us at your Marysville Raceway Park, we had a great time.

Next stop, Shasta Vintage Nationals at Rick Faeth’s Shasta Raceway Park, May 29th-30th, Always a good one.
See ya there, June
