June 2006

Great news on the Medical front to report, Harry Craycroft is home from the hospital and on the way to mending. Harry had a quadruple heart bypass in the first week of June. I am sure he would appreciate a call and /or a card from everyone. He told me on Thursday the 15th. that he plans to make the big show at All American Speedway on September 15th and 16th. He said he would have the car there and hopefully well enough to take a few laps. His # is (925) 827-4616 or Address 1284 Pinecrest Dr. Concord, Ca. 94521 or email  HOTRODHARRY@Peoplepc.com.
Our last date was at Lakeport Speedway on June 3rd. Seven Vintage members with their cars made the trip. Frank Goularte was requested to do a Memorial lap in memory of the late Howard Segar Sr. A new member Perry Ashworth and his wife Paula were there and is looking for an open midget trailer for his new vintage midget that he just bought. Perry had pictures to show all and is anxious to join in the fun. Gerri and Erick Lieder came down again from Oregon with his new "doodle bug" push vehicle. It now has an official name "Rick’s Shaw". He and Geri had a great time helping both vintage and regular midgets. We also celebrated three birthday’s Saturday night after the races. Scott Erwin on June 2nd.and Mike Luddon on June 3rd. and Rosemarie on June 4th. Lance Pierovich donated two bottles of his own label of Zinfandel wine for the celebration. Thanks Lance and congratulations on your main event win. The party went into the wee hours of the morning. Vintage Racers are party animals.
Ron Dunn called me today from New Orleans to say that he plans to make Fernley and that Tim Butterick’s #12 vintage midget is sold and on its way to Washington state to Harold Braff. That car has been available for a year and was a good buy. Seven Vintage midgets made the trip to Reno-Fernley Speedway on Friday the 17th. Of June. Chris ,the manager of Reno-Fernley Speedway drove one of Stu Donaldson’s vintage midgets for the night. This was his first ride in a midget of any type. He did a good job and made the vintage members proud. We were given two hot lap sessions and a 10 lap heat and a 15 lap main. The weather was great and the nights were cool. We are scheduled to return to Fernley two more times this season. Just more fun at a great track.
I was just informed that our remaining vintage dates at Twin Cities Raceway in Marysville have been cancelled. That means that our next date after Reno-Fernley will be Shasta Speedway in Anderson, California on July 15th. Everyone check the schedule that remains. We are sorry to lose any dates but things happen that we have no control but maybe next year. We have been offered one last date for Stockton 99 speedway before the track becomes history. Stu and I will take a straw pole to see how many vintage members are interested in one last lap at this great track.
See you at Anderson
Pete
