February 2006

Mother Nature has done it again. February 18th was to be a Play Day at Chowchilla but we have snow and rain every where. I hope Mother Nature will be good and give us some good weather when the race season starts in April.

The 2006 Vintage season schedule is posted on the web site at "bcraracing.com". There will probably be a few changes made before we really get into the season so copy it in pencil for now. There are two dates on the schedule that we can copy in ink. They are the date with the "Good Guys Car Show" on March 25th and 26th a Saturday and Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California. Stu has 19 Vintage midgets and the 2005 BCRA Champion Car of John Sarale scheduled for the display. Stu said that everyone that has signed up would receive a package in the mail with all the details about the event. So stay tuned and watch the mail for more information. It sounds like it will be a great show and BCRA is honored and excited to be a part of the Good Guys Car Show.

There is another big and important event scheduled for September 15th and 16th in Roseville at the All American Speedway. This event is called "All American Vintage Race Car Classic". It is put together by Brenda and Johnny Anderson of the West Capitol Alumni Association. If things continue, as they are, this will be one of the biggest if not the biggest Vintage Car gathering on the West Coast. The registration fee is $60.00 per car, which includes three pit passe per car entered. Saturday there will also be a BBQ Dinner served at 11:00 A.M. The BBQ tickets are $25.00 for non-WCRA members and $20.00 for members. I would strongly urge everyone that is interested to call Brenda ASAP at (916) 944-1443 and enter your car for the weekend and reserve your tickets for the BBQ.

Brenda has had a fantastic response and she said that there are Vintage Race Cars coming from all across the U.S.A. and I just heard that seven Vintage Midgets are coming from Australia. She has Super Modified's, Sprint Cars, Hardtops, Roadsters and Midgets all signed up to be there. The Car Show that She and Johnny put together last year to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the All American Speedway was a big success. I know that this will be even bigger and better. Brenda has mentioned there will be several Famous Racing Cerleberties there and a silent auction of several items donated and Autographed by Famous Racers as a fund raiser.
Another date that I am waiting to hear is from W.C.V.R. for a date back at Cottage Grove. I think it may be scheduled for the second or third weekend of August. I will let everyone know as soon as I hear. Several of us from BCRA Vintage went last year had a great time so we are eager to go back for more fun.

Check out the new Vintage pictures on the Vintage web site. Tommy Belfiore has done a great job of taking and organizing them for the web site. The up dated Vintage rules are also posted on the web site. So take a look and don't forget to get your 2006 BCRA Vintage calendar.

See ya at the Good Guys Show next month.
