April 2006
Snow and more snow, that is all I can see from anywhere around my place here in the mountains. I need a break in the weather to dig out my midget from the garage for the "Good Guys Car Show"coming the weekend of Saturday March 25th and Sunday 26th at the Alameda Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California.
The annual Vintage member meeting was the biggest that we have had in some time. Ron Dunn and Bobby and Dick did a great job of hosting the meeting for the day at Ron’s shop. Sometimes it is tough to get everyone together to start the meeting because everyone is enjoying checking out the great collection of race memorabilia that Ron has gathered over the past fifty years. Once we were started we covered several important subjects including the new Vintage rules. We discussed the 2006 schedule that is now on the BCRA web site for all to see. We covered the up coming Good Guys Car Show and how important it is to the image of BCRA and how honored that BCRA has been invited to be there. Tommy Belfiore took several photos of the meeting and Kay subbed for me and wrote a short story for V.O.R. magazine so watch for the next issue for the story.
The next big event on the schedule is "The All American Vintage Race Car Classic" that Brenda and Johnny Anderson have put together for this next September 15th and 16th at the All American Speedway in Roseville, California. My last email this week from Brenda she said that the BBQ and race tickets would go out in the mail in April. So I strongly suggest that if you plan to be there and get some track time you need to call Brenda and get your name on the list and send your money in ASAP. There is a limit of 100 racecars total. Her phone # is (916) 944-1443. Reservations for date are $60.00 or $75.00 after July first. The BBQ tickets are $25.00 for NON-WCRA and $20.00 for WCRA members.
Floyd Busby has designed and the board has ordered a brochure for a hand out to any and all race fans at the cars show and to pass out to other racers that might want to move up to the full midget class of race car. It is a well-done pamphlet that gives a brief view about BCRA midget racing. Also the BCRA Vintage patches that Floyd ordered for me are in and available.
I have contacted Andrea (the late Bill King’s daughter) and I
have purchased all of the remaining BCRA license plate frames that Bill had
made. I am selling them at $5.00 per frame the same price as Bill had so call me
or email me and I will save you a frame.
See ya at the "Good Guys Car Show"
