May 2005
The Vintage Opening Day is less than four weeks away. The
Vintage first show is on May 7th at Reno-Fernley with the BCRA Mighty Midgets.
It will be a good day because I told the weather God to stay away and let us
play. The Doctor said I am good to go so I will be there. I think this will be
our fourth or fifth year returning to Fernley.
On May 21st. Every BCRA Vintage member that would like to join the "Karz for
Kids" car show in Fresno at the Children’s Hospital are invited to bring their
Racecar for a static display car show. The entry fee is $25.00 advance
registration and $30.00 registration on the show day. We hope to have 6 or 7
Vintage midgets there. Bob has sent out a registration forms to all the BCRA
vintage members. Bob told me that last year they had over 180 Street Rods and
Classic cars on display. If you need more information you can contact Bob Munier
in Madera at (559) 645-7226.
Check out the BCRA Racing web site and you will find the newly updated BCRA
Vintage rules. Click on Vintage and there are the rules.
In the April issue of Vintage Oval Racing Magazine on page nine (9) is a short
but nice story by Dave Stewart from V.O.R. magazine. Dave was our guest at the
BCRA Vintage meeting last February at Ron Dunn’s shop. I spoke to Jim Eiland a
few days after Easter Sunday and he said that his daughter Cheryl Neudorf was in
U.C.L.A. Med. Center and had just had a complete lung transplant. She is 24
years old and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibroses. I spoke to Jim’s son a few
days later and he told me that Cheryl was improving each day. I asked Linda
Manning to send the family a get well card from BCRA.
As of April 12th I have been home from the hospital five weeks and feeling
great. Rosemarie and I are doing as much walking as we can in between the
snowstorms. We both would like to say thank you to all the friends that called
and sent cards. I would like to Thank Tom Belifore and Stu Donaldson for
covering Vintage Views story for me last month.
I would like to say a Special Thank You to my two son’s Desi and Aaron and our
daughter Priya for their help staying with Rosemarie while I was in the hospital
and for driving her back and forth to the hospital in Modesto each day. Family
is what it is all about.
Thanks again and I hope to see everyone at Reno-Fernley on May 7th.
