March 2005

Well its almost that time of year again for the fun to begin, everyone is busy getting their
Toys ready to run another great BCRA vintage year. One great part of running this year is we, the vintage division, will be running with the BCRA contemporary cars at a number of tracks throughout the year. Not only are we going have the best fun running our vintage cars but we get to watch the very fast super midgets. Check the schedule to see what tracks that will be happing at. That also includes the midgets-lites.
Once again all vintage members would like to thank Ron Dunn for the great vintage meeting place a few weeks ago at his toy shop. I have added some pictures of Ron’s toy house that everyone enjoys every year. Thanks again Ron…
We had 25 in attendance including members and guests, of course the wife’s, which are a very important part of this vintage life… Just think if they said those scary words “No Racing”.
Some of the topics Stu and Pete covered were all members of the BCRA vintage division voted for full membership into BCRA, this passed unanimously among vintage members.
The reason we voted for full membership was to show more support to BCRA. as a
promotional tool. This puts BCRA in a unique position with three divisions where the fans can see the old and the new all in one show.
We want to thank BCRA for our great 05 schedule as we were included in their process
of scheduling.
NORM RAPP was in attendance and announced he was to be inducted into the
Motor Sports Press Association’s Hall Of Fame ( Congratulation’s Norm )
Norm also talked as to how he will be dealing with tires and track support this year.
We in the Vintage Division. want to support Norm in any way we can, as he has been a mainstay in supplying BCRA racers for many years with our want`s and needs. Where else can you make a phone call or go to his store and find what you need, being New--- Used or Whatever to keep our Vintage toys going ( Keep It Up Norm… Zoom, Zoom Zoom , Norm Rapp Racing.
This year at the meeting we had a great guest, it was none other than Vintage Oval Racing Magazine’s own Dave Stewart. Check out Dave’s articles monthly, this last one brought up a very good point…“what is a vintage midget”.
We all would like to wish our own Pete Brey a speedy recovery, seems a week ago Pete was having some back pain and drove himself to the hospital, well come to find out he was having a heart attack, minor, if having one is ever minor, but just goes to show you how tuff we old vintage drivers are. Peter is expected to recover completely and is home doing so, he will be ready for the May 7th starting in Reno. Please send him your best wishes. We also would like to thank Rosemary for keeping us all informed.
On a personal note I would like to add that I’m starting my 5th year with the BCRA Vintage Group and would like to thank all the members for allowing me to have so much fun That old saying is very true, time sure flies when your having fun and I could not think of a better group of people to spend the last fives years with, and goes for you too Sammy. Ha Ha.
Also a special thanks to Frank and Kay, Stu Donaldson, Gil Granucci for their help last year on ol’number 16.
Stay Vintage and keep those wheels tight.

Just filling for Pete… Tommy Belfiore
