November 2004

The 2004 BCRA membership meeting and election of new Board of Directors is scheduled for October 30th. Locations to be announced soon so stay tuned. I do know the meeting time is 1:00 P.M. wherever it happens.

The Annual BCRA Awards Banquet is on November 20th at the Radisson Hotel 6680 Regional Street in Dublin, California. Cocktails are at 6:30 P.M. and dinner will be served at 7:30 P.M. BCRA has reserved a block of rooms for those that wish to spend the night. Call the hotel to request the special rate of $69.00 (925) 828-7750. The Banquet cost is $39.00 per person in advance and $55.00 at the door. Check out the October issue of the BCRA newsletter for more details and a map to the hotel. I hope to see several Vintage members there.

Paul Ferreira & Paul Farajian of BCRA Vintage have both volunteered to bring their Vintage midgets to San Francisco Cow Palace for the annual Grand Roadster Show scheduled for January 7,8,9, 2005. Stu Donaldson and Tommy Belfiore were the two volunteers for the show last year.

Dave Swindell and Joan and his staff of Kings Speedway in Hanford again treated the BCRA Vintage members to a great time on Saturday October 9th. We are always given all the track time that we can handle and sometimes more. We had 10 vintage midgets there for the fans to enjoy. Mechanical gremlins bit several of the vintage cars. We all work hard to keep the cars in good running shape but the gremlin always jumps up to get some of us no matter how hard we try. BCRA invited a new guest from Taft, Calif. Jim Eiland and his crew Jim Wildharber and his wrench man Anthony Pombo. Anthony is the grandson of Al Pombo the San Juaquin Valley Super Modified driver of the 50 s ,60 s. If you ever saw a race between Al Pombo and Marshall Sargent you were seeing two of the best there was. I owe Jim and his wife an apology because I failed to list Jim s name on the driver list for the track announcer. I will try to do better next year.

I delivered the finished BCRA Coloring Books to all the vintage members at Hanford. Rusty did another fantastic job for BCRA Vintage. She also did the artwork on the 2005 BCRA Vintage calendar. The calendars are going fast so you should hurry to get your copy for your collection. A laminated copy is $8.00 and $4.00 S.H. Call me @ (209) 586-4838 or email petebcra1@netzero.net.

All of the BCRA Vintage members wish to offer their prayers to Rusty and Bill Browning. Rusty lost her mother about three weeks ago. Thanks Rusty for all of your work for BCRA vintage and may your mother rest in peace.

This latest issue of the BCRA Newsletter will be out after our last 2004 date at Santa Maria so I will report that story next month. See you at the General membership meeting on October 30th. 1:00 P.M. location to be announced soon.
