BCRA Rookie Marco DeGeorge Claims First Midget Victory at
Ukiah

Blistering to the lead from his outside second-row starting spot
on the opening lap, BCRA rookie Marco DeGeorge never looked back, topping a
stellar Bay Cities Racing Association Midget field on Saturday evening, May 3 at
the speedy and tight 1/4-mile Ukiah Speedway wheeling the #78 Mark DeGeorge
Beast/Esslinger, earning his first-ever BCRA feature triumph in only his second
pavement Midget start.
2007 BCRA Midget Most Improved driver, Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez claimed second
aboard the #31 Shores-Cortez Special Beast/Sesco-Mopar, just two tenths back
from DeGeorge, with eight-time BCRA champion Floyd Alvis aboard his #18 Champion
Automotive Stealth/Van Dyne coming home in third with 2007 BCRA Midget
Mechanic-of-the-Year Nick Foster, Jr., coming home fourth aboard Jim Fowler’s
#24 Beast/Esslinger and 15-year-old Britton Bock coming home fifth aboard his
#62 TCR/Pontiac.
Kyle Dickerson spun on Lap 9, while running second and then spun again, hitting
the Turn 1 wall on lap 14 and ending his evening. Nick Chivello also spun on lap
14 in Turn 2. Chivello was able to continue, however spun again on lap 24 in
Turn 4.
Scott Nail flipped Stu Donaldson’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac during main event warm
ups and was unable to take the green flag of the 30-lap feature event.
Cortez claimed the winner’s laurels in the Trophy Dash over DeGeorge, Dickerson
and Midget Lite grad “Nitro” Nick Chivello aboard father Daniel Chivello’s #27b
Beast/Esslinger.
15-year-old BCRA rookie Kyle Dickerson outpaced the field of BCRA Midgets,
setting fast time at 11.196 aboard Grandfather Harold Dickerson’s #11k Beast/Ed
Pink Ford,
Foster claimed Heat 1 over Mike Donaldson in Stu Donaldson’s #8 Stealth/Gaerte,
Scott Nail aboard Stu Donaldson’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac, Alvis and Bock.
DeGeorge claimed Heat 2 over Cortez, Dickerson and Chivello.
The BCRA Midget Series continues on Saturday, May 10th, returning for their
second of five scheduled races at the speedy 1/3-mile Madera Speedway.
