BEARD BEATS BCRA MIDGET FIELD AT RENO-FERNLEY

FERNLEY, NV., AUG. 26: Cameron Beard made a last-lap re-pass to secure the win in the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature at the Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, Nevada.
Beard took the lead on the 22nd lap from second-row starter Floyd Alvis, who took the initial lead on the 3/8-mile high-desert dirt oval. Beard, from sixth worked to second, then battled the veteran 7-time BCRA champion, taking the lead with an inside pass exiting the second turn on the 22nd circuit.
Alvis rebounded to momentarily retake the lead in the fourth-turn on the 30th and final lap, but Beard was up to the task and shot under Alvis to take the narrow win at the line.
Sixteen-year-old Darrin Bolton placed third over Travis Berryhill and point leader John Sarale.
Ryan Kaplan out-qualified the 19-car field at 17.040.
