GREWOHL CHARGES TO MADERA MIDGET WIN - SARALE CAPTURES BCRA CHAMPIONSHIP
OCT. 21: Bobby Grewohl set the pace by outqualifying the 24 car field, then finalized his efforts by capturing to the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature at the Madera Speedway. The DeBeaumont Motorsports Beast/Ed Pink Ford driver proved his high standards by charging from 14th to win the 39-lap main event , scheduled for 40-laps, but cut short with a 38th-lap yellow/checkered flag. BCRA point leader John Sarale finished the BCRA racing season finale by winning his second consecutive driving championship.

KAPLAN CAPTURES SHASTA PORTER MEMORIAL MIDGET FEATURE
 SEPT. 23: Ryan Kaplan battled his way to the win in the 3rd Annual "Pop Porter Memorial" 40-lap midget feature, sanctioned by the Bay Cities Racing Association and United States Auto Club. Establishing a new one-lap track record on the 3/8-mile paved oval, Kaplan's Mopar powered Stealth started the 24-car main event in the tenth position.

SWANSON WINS IN SECOND MIDGET START
SEPT 2:  Eighteen year old Kody Swanson from Kingsburg won the co-sanctioned Bay Cities Racing Association / United States Auto Club Midget main event held at Altamont Raceway Park Saturday night. The 2005 USAC Western Sprint Car Champion Swanson took the lead on lap 23 from race leader Ben Petter and never looked back to take the win driving his Gerhardt/Esslinger Western Speed Racing Team car in only his second start in a midget. A scary moment ended the event when Petter and Bradley Galedrige got together racing for second place entering turn three resulting in Petter taking a nasty flip into the concrete barrier. Both drivers climbed out of their damaged machines okay but officials checkered the event due to time constraints.

BEARD BEATS BCRA MIDGET FIELD AT RENO-FERNLEY
AUG. 26: Cameron Beard made a last-lap re-pass to secure the win in the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature at the Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, Nevada.

SARALE TOPS INTENSE BCRA MIDGETS AT PLACERVILLE
AUG. 12. At the checkered flag it was John Sarale who emerged victorious in the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature that can only be described as intense! There was never a dull lap as the defending BCRA champion warded off the challenges of a stellar field to intensify his 2006 point advantage.

BRAGG & HONDA SCORE BCRA MIDGET WIN AT WATSONVILLE
AUG. 4: Greg Bragg thrashed the competition with Honda power to snare the win in the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville.
The former BCRA midget lite competitor started 11th in the 18-car field in his 122ci double overhead valve Honda.

MELBY CHARGES TO FIRST MIDGET VICTORY AT ROSEBURG
JULY 29.: Dallas Melby scored the win in the co-sanctioned Bay Cities Racing Association and Washington Midget Racing Association battle on the Douglas County Speedway 3/8-mile paved oval. WMRA's Melby moved his Chris Melby Blue Dot Gaerte under early leader Doug Kammerzell in the first turn on the 18th lap of the 40-lap feature event to claim his first career midget victory.

BOYDEN CAPTURES WIN IN MIDGET COMBO AT MADERA
JULY 22: Garratt Boyden took his first midget win over a stellar field in the co-sanctioned Bay Cities Racing Association and Western States United States Auto Club midget feature at the Madera Speedway. The competitors were met with 113-degree temperatures and track conditions above 140.

HUNT SCORES CONTROVERSIAL WIN IN STOCKTON FINALE
JULY 8: Tony Hunt climaxed an exceptional evening or racing with a controversial victory in the 30-lap midget feature, co-sanctioned by the Bay Cities Racing Association and United States Auto Club, in the final midget race to ever be held in the famed Stockton "99" speedway quarter-mile paved oval.
The controversy arose with three laps remaining. Shannon McQueen was leading Hunt when the green flag came out following a caution period. As McQueen, seeking her first midget feature win, entered the first turn she was struck from the rear by Hunt, sending her Stealth Esslinger into a spin toward the wall. Following that final caution Hunt went on to capture the win with the respective BCRA and USAC defending champions, John Sarale and Jerome Rodela, placing second and third.

MESERAULL D.Q. GIVES SARALE LAKEPORT MIDGET WIN
JULY 1: Thomas Meseraull crossed the line first and happily accepted the winner's laurels in the Bay Cities Racing Association feature at the Lakeport Speedway, then was disqualified at the post-race tech inspection. The D.Q. gave the win to runnerup John Sarale.
Visiting from his new home base in Avon, Indiana, the 2004 BCRA champion borrowed the Walker/Beast Esslinger to join his old competitors for the 18th Annual Kelseyville Lumber Deake Lyndall Memorial Classic on the quarter-mile paved oval. Scrambling to get the car ready with the aid of a friend, the rear tire width was not checked, and sure enough, a one-and-one-half inch over-width changed his elation to sorrow.

AGELESS ALVIS ANNIHILATES BCRA MIDGET FIELD
FERNLEY, NV. JUNE 17: The ageless Floyd Alvis scored his first feature win in nearly two years, annihilating the Bay Cities Racing Association midget field at the Reno-Fernley Raceway.
The 71-year-old seven-time BCRA champion was in sharp contrast to runnerup, just-turned-sixteen rookie talent Darrin Bolton in the experience category.
Alvis took command of the feature on the ninth lap aboard his Champion Automotive Stealth/Esslinger when pole-sitter Rob Russell spun the Thurston Spike/Esslinger Ford in the fourth turn.

PIEROVICH WINS LAKEPORT MIDGETS
JUNE 3: Scott Pierovich charged from eighth to take the lead on the 13th lap in the Bay Cities Racing Association midget feature at the Lakeport Speedway. Driving the Lance Pierovich Wirth Mopar-powered Beast, the youngster pulled away from the field to take the 30-lap win on the fast quarter-mile paved oval, his first victory with BCRA.

BERRYHILL WARDS OFF CHALLENGERS FOR WATSONVILLE BCRA MIDGET WIN
MAY 12: Travis Berryhill warded off all challengers to take the 30-lap feature win in Bay Cities Racing Association midget action at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA. Starting from the pole in his "Spirit of American Canyon" Gaerte powered Stealth, Berryhill drove a smooth "catch me if you can" race over a dry slick quarter-mile dirt oval that presented problems to his veteran and rookie pursuers.

Attention BCRA Midget Car Owners & Drivers
Here are the noise level readings taking during qualifying at the Stockton 04/22/06, co-sanctioned event. The recordings were made by a BCRA Board member using the BCRA sound meter. Please note the following:
1. The two cars with the lowest readings were both running SuperTrapp mufflers.
2. Per BCRA rules, sound levels are not to exceed 95db at 100'
Please take whatever steps are necessary to be certain that you can quite your car to meet BCRA noise level requirements.

WEASE TOPS GERHARDT OPEN WHEEL CLASSIC AT STOCKTON
APRIL 22: Billy Wease scored the win in the annual Gerhardt Open Wheel Classic 100-lap midget race at the Stockton "99" Speedway following a tense on-track confrontation with early leader and teammate Michael Lewis.

PLACERVILLE MIDGET & MIDGET LITE RACE CANCELLED
The Placerville Speedway management has cancelled this weekend's (April 15) racing card at the speedway due to adverse track and pit conditions.
This affects the Bay Cities Racing Association midget and midget lites who were scheduled for their first dual program of the season.
This also marks the third consecutive week of cancellations for both BCRA divisions, the longest continuous sets of cancellations in the organization's history.
The BCRA midgets next race, now the season-opener, is the Gerhardt Classic, co-sanctioned with USAC, at the Stockton "99"
Speedway on April 22. The lites will begin their season on April 29 at the Twin Cities Speedway in Marysville.

BCRA MIDGET RACE CANCELLED AT MADERA SPEEDWAY
The Bay Cities Racing Association midget race that had been scheduled for Saturday night, April 8, has been cancelled. Due to the weather the infield is unusable and the forecast of continued rain prompted the management of the Madera facility to cancel.
This marks the second week in a row that the BCRA midgets have been canceled due to the weather, the first being last week at the Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson.
The BCRA midget and midget lites hope that the soggy-saga ceases so that the midgets can start the season next Saturday, April 15, at the Placerville Speedway.

SHASTA RACEWAY PARK MIDGET RACE CANCELLED
The auto racing program set for Saturday, April 1 at the Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson has been cancelled due to the weather.
The event would have been the opening round of the 2006 racing season for the Bay Cities Racing Association midgets. The cancellation also effects the USAC/CASA sprint cars that had been scheduled to run.
The next BCRA midget race is set for April 8 at the Madera Speedway.
