The “Bandit” wins BCRA Midget Lite Main at P-Ville
Placerville, CA…The “Bandit” Scott Kinney from Citrus Heights won the 20 lap Bay Cities Racing Association Midget Lite main event in convincing style Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. The current points leader and former champion made quick work from his eighth place starting position to take the lead on lap eight and never looked back to win his third main event at Placerville this year. “The track was tricky tonight.” Said Kinney, “It was a little dry entering the corners but real heavy coming off making for tough setup but I worked my way up through eighth and got the win. I’m real happy with the night. I’d like to thank Rose of Sweet Baby Jane’s Racing, S&S Roofing and my crew.” said the race winner.
At the start of the 20 lap main Craig Holsted took the lead from the pole. Jimmy Riddell raced second, Terry Bergstrom third and Jeff Griffin fourth after one lap of Placerville’s quarter mile clay oval was complete. S. Kinney was making moves from the back of the pack racing past Ridell coming off turn four to take second on lap four. After a restart for a spin by Josef Ferplito leader Holsted and Kinney had a nice battle for the lead with S. Kinney taking the it with an inside move coming off turn two on lap eight. S. Kinney stretched his lead the rest of the distance to win by a straightaway. Holsted finished second with Riddell third. Defending Champion Hunter Kinney raced fourth with Danika’jo Parker fifth. Tenth starting Brandon Leedy finished sixth with Dakota Albright seventh. Gus Carcione ended up eighth with veteran Bergstom a hard luck ninth. Griffin and Ferolito had troubles rounding out the field at tenth and eleventh. Jacob Williams did not start.
Dakota Albright posted the fastest time in single car qualifying at 12.406. Heat races went to Bergstrom and S. Kinney. The 2019 BCRA Midget Lite racing season will continue next week back at Placerville Speedway July 27th.
