04-27-19 Merced, CA…..The “Bandit” Scott Kinney from Citrus Heights made it two wins in three starts after he dominated the green to checkered 25 lap Bay Cities Racing Association Midget Lite main event held at Merced Speedway Saturday night. The veteran took the lead from the start and never looked back en route to the win. “I want to thank the fans, Merced Speedway promoters Chris Shannon and Paul Stone for having the BCRA Midget Lites here and sponsors S&S Roofing and Rose from Baby Jane Racing for their support.” said the 2 time BCRA Midget Lite Champion.
At the original start of the main event outside pole sitter Jeff Griffin from Middletown pulled to a stop coming off turn two bringing out the yellow flag. The Orv Johnson led crew tried to fix it but couldn’t make it back out in time before the full restart. Pole sitter Scott Kinney took the lead at the starters green flag with Modesto’s Jimmy Riddell racing second. Danika Jo Parker from Oakdale ran third with Chase Gaal from Oneles fourth after lap one. Racing was fast on the newly banked third mile clay oval and Kinney had the set up on his ART Chassis dialed in as he pulled away from the field. By the mid-way point Kinney was a straightaway ahead of second running Riddell with Gaal now racing third. Waterford’s Dakota Albright moved up from his seventh starting spot to run fourth followed by back row starter Jacob Williams from Lodi in fifth. Parker fell back to sixth and Adam Teves from Concord raced seventh. Kinney stretched his lead to a half lap over second finisher Riddell at the checkered flag. Gaal finished a solid third with Albright a consistent fourth. Williams overcame mechanical troubles early in the night to round out the top five.
Griffin won heat one from the pole after Brandon Leedy from Roseville elected to start in the back due to mechanical issues with his car. Teves chased Griffin the distance to race second followed by Modesto’s Josef Ferolito, Parker, Gaal and Leedy. Leedy made some good moves to get up to fourth running the top groove of the track but his car lost power after a few laps forcing him to the pits.
- Kinney won heat two after he and pole sitter Riddell had a great battle for the lead. Riddell finished second followed by long tow Aiden Lange from Lakewood in third. Albright finished fourth and 2018 Champion Hunter Kinney had mechanical problems finishing fifth.
Danika Jo Parker posted the fastest lap on the newly re configured track with a time of 12.249 in qualifying.
Next race for the Midget Lites is at Placerville Speedway, May 4th followed by the 6th annual “Wayne Albright Memorial” back at Merced on June, 22nd.
