At Stockton 99 Speedway, 6/16/18

BCRA Vintage Views by June Wheeler-Ferreira

Hi, all, it was a perfect day at Stockton for the Tom Manning Memorial event.  Lots of cars, but unfortunately not many Midgets.  Things started around 1pm when the pit gates open up. We saw lots of old face’s that came just for Tom’s Memorial. It was a real nice event to have for him. He will always be miss by all who knew him.

We, the Vintage group ran along with 5 other groups Gun Slingers Wing Sprint Car Series, BCRA Midgets, California Hard Top Association, Legend’s of Kearney Bowl, and Western US Midgets.  Everyone got plenty of track tune, we had 2 warm ups and a heat. The Vintage Guys put on a great show for the fans 15 laps of side by side running.  JP Shanoian took home a trophy for finishing first in the Main with the beautiful #2 car and Chad Nichols finish first in the Midget Main, good job.

We the vintage guys had our usual group too. Those who were in attendance;  #14 Bob & Gloria Mastroleo  Offy,  #2 JP Shanoian & Ray Lawson Jr. Chevy II,  #30 Norm &  Betty Ann Gray Chevy II, #16  Tommy Belfiore Chevy II, #4 Jim De Jung Chevy II and Paul & June Ferreira was the push squad

Hey guys we need to get more cars out there to keep this going it can’t keep happening without you not bringing your cars out.
Stockton a great little track and everyone likes running there and it’s really good to keep Ton Manning’s Memorial going.

Several people ask about Richard Walsh, Richard had major surgery   for his back at Stanford Hospital a few weeks ago. Now he’s doing fine and he’s on the road to recovery. He has a great nurse  “Lorraine” taking care of him and he   should be out and about soon.

Our next stop is Madera on 7/7/18, so come on guys let get those old beauties out and ready to go.  See you there!
