First Annual Tom Manning Memorial at Stockton 99 – Vintage Division

By June Wheeler-Ferreira

Hi gang, well the BCRA Vintage guys had another fun day at Stockton on Saturday the 6th of August. We had a good spot in the pit area right under the trees just as you come off of the track it was hot, we had a nice breeze to keep us cool all day. As usual the traffic was a mess Highway 4 was closed and they had a detour it was all goof up but everybody got to the track eventually.  The racing was good with Wing Sprint cars, Modifieds, Regular Midget and Vintage Guys.  We had 7 cars and everybody ran good and put on a great show. The regular Midget main was out standing with a real battle for the lead with 30 laps and the fans love it. Congrats Chad Nichols on finishing first and JP Shanoian with the Vintage.

A very nice presentation of flower by Tony Noceti was given to Linda Manning. There was checkered laps made by Floyd Alvis in memory of Tom Manning and we all miss him.

We would like to say a word about Bob Mastroleo and his wife Gloria come all the way from LA with his #14 Offy Midget to run with us and makes just about all the races at Madera. He’s the president of WRA and loves to run his car at every event he can. Want to add that it’s really great when the BCRA real racers stop by to visit with us Vintage Guys, Floyd Alvis, Rick Holbrook and his wife Peggy, Bill Lindsey, Ken Nichols, Bob Roza, Del Morris just to name a few.  A big, thank you, to all the quad people for pushing us around.

Our BCRA driver’s and cars who were at this event; #16 Tommy and Sammy Belfiore; #30 Norm Gray; #17 Doug Shanoain; #2 JP Shanoian; #36 Paul and June Ferreira/driver Richard Walsh and #8 Richard Walsh and  Lorraine Walsh (static display).

So keep the vintage going and we all had fun at Stockton and Vintage guys lets try to make Lakeport.
