Well another fun filled Saturday at Madera for the Gerhardt Classic we were the first vintage people to arrive so we set up camp and prepared for the day. It was a little warm with nice breeze we were scheduled for practice at 3:30, so we just sat around and visit with the guys as they arrived. Bob Mastroleo, one of our newer members came all the way from Monrovia to run with us that’s about a 5 hours tow for him.
We did our warm ups and we had a small drivers meeting in which we have before every event Linda came by and talk about a few safety issues we ended up with 6 cars, there were several other car groups running also Saturday so time was short. Our 2 time out went well an 8 lap heat and a 12 lap main after the dust settled, we loaded up and prepared to watch the big one a 100 lap midget race which was a great show, Congratulation, Michael Snider on finishing first in the midget 100 laps and Jim De Jong finish first in our 12 laps vintage main.
A few of our group will be going to ‘Santa Maria on July 26th to run a WRA event we haven’t been there for a while, it should be fun. Then it’s up to Placerville for the Hall of Fame Picnic August the 2nd, the vintage cars are schedule to run so this will be the first time in several years that we ran there. Just a reminder the BCRA board, Linda and the gang put a lot of work setting up this picnic for the Jack London Bash so please if possible let’s try to support it. It’s a fun day you’ll see a lot of your racing buddies, meet some new ones and the price is right, so hope to see you all there
