Scott Kinney in the Fonscea/Johnson #9 makes it 4 in a row. The bright yellow #9 scopes up his heat and feature win, showing he can do it with or without the wing. He looked great running topless for the first time this season. Scott has a great season going for him this year so far.
Fourteen Mighty Lites showed up for the first wingless race of the year. A few of the top 5 drivers did not make the trip, but it was good to see Tim Manning make his first showing of the year.
Heat #1 saw Craig Dillard #72s start from the outside front row and not fall behind for the 8 lap event. He was followed across the finish line by Cory Green #53c. Brian Corso #10 finished in 3rd, Rich Johnson in 4th, Marshall Sexton #62 finished in 5th, Howie West fighting handling problems finished 6th. Tim manning in his bright red #21 did not start.
Heat #2 had Scott Kinney #9 starting in the 2nd row on the outside and in no time was leading and cruised to the win. On lap 4 hard charging Joey Hoover #76 started in the rear was in 4th position when the #35jr Dakota Albright spun in front of him in turn 3 leaving him no place to go and he smacked the 35jr in the front and Dakota had fire coming from his engine and a lot of smoke. Neither of those cars finished the heat race. Richie Hoover #75 finished behind Kinney in 2nd place, #74 Craig Holsted 3rd, Rick Soto #30 4th followed by #28 Marcus Smith.
The feature started off with the 2nd fire of the night. Richie Hoover #75 starting inside row 2 burst into flames going into turn #1. Richie went out the top of the car and jumped to the ground hoping he was not on fire. The Placerville track fire crew was right there to put the fire out and save the car and Richie.
Scott Kinney #9 started inside row 3 and quickly moved to the front where he stayed, Craig Dillard #72s stayed close to finish in 2nd. Dakota Albright #35jr coming off a scary heat 1 fire finished 3rd. Craig (the bald bullet) Holsted had his best finish of the year in 4th. Cory Green #53c 5th, Rick Johnson #88 6th, Marcus Smith #28 7th.
